OUR STANDARD / OLIVE OIL POLYPHENOLS

Measure the oil that is actually in the bottle.

Polyphenol concentration changes by cultivar, harvest, processing, storage and lot. FIRST MATTER therefore treats evidence as lot-specific, not as a permanent marketing number.

Total polyphenols

Total polyphenols are reported as a concentration in milligrams per kilogram of oil. OLIVE 01 has a minimum release standard of 1,300 mg/kg for the exact commercial lot.

A higher number describes a measurable characteristic of the oil. It is not, by itself, a promise of a proportionally greater health effect.

Named qualifying compounds

The authorised Great Britain olive-oil polyphenol health claim is compound-specific. Eligibility depends on the final oil providing at least 5 mg of hydroxytyrosol and its derivatives per 20 g of olive oil.

FIRST MATTER will use that wording only when the exact commercial-lot analysis confirms the applicable condition.

Exact commercial lot

The certificate published for sale must identify the tested lot, laboratory, analysis method, analysis date and measured results. The lot record also connects the result to origin, harvest, production and bottling details.

Verified producer references

These producer analyses document the source range available to the project. They are evidence about those oils, but they are not presented as the final certificate for the OLIVE 01 commercial lot.

How to read a release

  1. Confirm that the certificate refers to the exact commercial lot.
  2. Check the analysis date, laboratory and method.
  3. Distinguish total-polyphenol concentration from compound-specific claim eligibility.
  4. Read the value together with the stated serving and storage guidance.
