01 / WHY WE EXIST

Premium should be specific.

The word premium is easy to print. We believe quality should be easier to see.

Greece is home to remarkable growers and makers. Our role is to find producers whose work stands up to scrutiny, select the releases that meet our standard and publish the facts before asking you to buy.

We do not rely on origin stories alone. We examine the producer, raw material, process, relevant certifications, independent analysis and the exact commercial release.

If the evidence does not support the product, it does not become First Matter.

02 / HOW A PRODUCT QUALIFIES

Selected at the source. Verified for release.

We name the people and businesses behind every product, where they work and why we selected them.
02DOCUMENTED PROCESS
We examine the production decisions that materially affect quality, from raw material and harvest to processing, storage and bottling.
03MEASURED QUALITY
Where composition can be measured, we publish the relevant numbers. For OLIVE 01, that includes total polyphenols and the compound-specific analysis linked to the release.
04EVIDENCE IN CONTEXT
We identify the laboratory, certification body or award organisation, the date and exactly what the document applies to.
05EXACT RELEASE RECORD
Each commercial release carries its own evidence. Producer history establishes capability, but it never replaces verification of the product being sold.

Every First Matter product identifies its producer and place of origin, explains why we selected them and connects the release to its supporting evidence.

When we mention an award, certification or laboratory result, we state who issued it, when it was issued and whether it applies to the producer, a source product or the exact release you are buying.

Our Greece-based founder works directly with producers and keeps us connected to the people, places and production behind each release.

Our two UK-based founders turn that access into a clear selection standard, responsible UK import operation and customer experience.

Together, we connect the source of the product with the people buying it, without making the producer anonymous or the evidence difficult to find.

Olive oil is only the first matter.

OLIVE 01 is our first release and the clearest expression of the First Matter approach: a known producer, exceptional source material, measurable composition and evidence connected to the product.

Future releases may come from different regions, producers and food categories, but they will follow the same principle.

We will expand slowly. A new product enters the house only when we can explain what exceptional means for its category, verify it and make the evidence understandable.
